OverviewThis network has been established as a platform to collaborate with fellow academics, practitioners and policymakers across countries in Africa, and with those outside Africa who are involved in research and work in Africa. It is an attempt to develop partnerships based on an agreed definition of inclusive education for the African context which would focus on the inclusion of all learners, particularly those from marginalized groups, disabled and with special needs.

MissionT The vision of this network is to share experience on, and support developments in, Inclusive Education in the African continent. The mission is to contribute to increased access and improved quality education for all children in Africa, particularly those from marginalized groups. This focus is on the development of sustainable Inclusive Education policy and practice in this continent and sharing best practice.

FundingThis network will be non-funded and will work off the goodwill of members.

ActivitiesThe remit of this network, with support of its members, will include: • Publishing developments in Inclusive Education policy and practice • Supporting local developments • Developing partnerships with other networks in the field both from Africa and internationally • Organising events, which bring together stakeholders • Establishing the Africa Journal of Inclusive Education
